Q. How can I book a car on Hertz.gr?


A. Start by filing in the required information in the "Make a Reservation" box found in the home page. These are:

• Pick-up and return date and time.
• The pick-up Hertz location. If the return location is different, please select the “I am returning this vehicle to a different location” tick box.
• The type of car you’d like to rent.
• The number of your Frequent Traveler card or, if you have, a promotional card.

On the second step, choose your preferred vehicle category and payment method and complete your reservation by filling in your personal data and credit card details.

Q. Can I choose a particular car brand or model?


A. Bookings are subject to a specific car group, which includes several different car models with similar features. You can ask for a specific model during the pick-up, whether it is available.

Q. What is the minimum/maximum period for a car rental on hertz.gr?


A. The minimum period for a car rental is 30 min and the maximum is thirty (30) days.

Q. What is "Pre-pay online» and what "Pay on Return"?


A. You can either choose to prepay the cost of your online reservation or pay at location.

You can prepay the cost of your reservation, by using your credit or debit card. Please note that in case of using a debit card to pre-pay your reservation cost, you will also be asked to present a valid credit card for during the pick-up of your car.

Alternatively, you can choose to pay at location, upon the delivery of your car from the location you chose during the reservation process. To complete the reservation of the car, you will need to enter your credit / debit card. Your card will not be charged, but we will just pre-authorize the amount of €30 plus VAT (23 %), as a guarantee in case of no-show upon the pick-up of the car.

Q. Which cards are accepted?


A. Visa, Mastercard and American Express debit and credit cards are accepted. We do not accept prepaid cards.

Q. Will I receive a confirmation for my reservation?


A. Upon succesfull completion of your reservation, you will receive a confirmation email on the address you provided during your reservation.

Q. Can I change my reservation? Is there a charge?


A. You can only change your reservation’s pick up and drop off date, time and location, assuming the change concerns a location in the same city – up to 2 hours before the pick-up time you have put on your reservation. To make a modification in your reservation, click on the “Modify / Cancel” tab, found in the reservation box in the homepage and insert the reservation’s reference number (e.g. ABCD01012001) and the driver’s surname.

Please note that changes to the reservation are subject to a recalculation of the reservation’s cost, based on the availability and prices at the time the change is made.

For on-request reservations, you can only modify the drop off/pick-up location assuming the change concerns a location in the same city.

You cannot modify the selected vehicle category or the driver’s or credit card’s data. For these cases please cancel the reservation and make a new one. Please note that this may be subject to cancellation fees.

Q. Can I cancel my reservation? Is there a charge?


A. You can cancel your reservation up to 5 minutes before the pick-up time you have that you have provided during the reservation process.

For prepaid reservations, if you cancel your reservation up to 48 hours before the pick-up date and time, the full amount of the reservation will be refunded to your card. Otherwise, you card will be refunded the full amount deducted by the late cancellation charge of €30 plus VAT, within two (2) working days.

Please note that if your make a prepaid reservation within 48 hours prior of the pick-up date and time and then you cancel, you will be refunded the full amount deducted by the late cancellation charge of €30 plus VAT

For pay-on-return reservations, you are allowed to cancel your reservation until the pick-up date and time, without any charges to incur.

Q. What happens if I do not show up on the specified pick-up date and time? Is there a charge?


A. In case you do not show-up on the pick-up time that you provided during your reservation, with no prior written notification, Hertz has the right to cancel your booking after the end of a 29 minutes grace period and charge a no-show fee.

For prepaid reservations, your card will be refunded the amount of the reservation deducted by the no-show fee, of € 40 plus VAT.

For pay-on-return reservations, your card will be charged the amount of €30 plus VAT.

In both cases, the refund will be completed within two (2) working days.

Q. Can I use a credit card to make a reservation that I am not the cardholder?


A. No. In order to pick up the reserved vehicle, the card holder must present the card under which the reservation was made. The card holder will appear as the driver on the rental agreement.

Q. What is Verified by Visa and Mastercard SecureCode?


A. Verified by Visa and Mastercard SecureCode is an additional security layer based on the 3D Secure protocol aiming to reduce the risk of unauthorized card use, by certifying the cardholder when conducting an online transaction through filling in the personal security password you entered during your card registration process. The service is provided to the cardholder by the issuing bank in cooperation with the respective financial institution (Visa or Mastercard).

Q. I have not enrolled my card for Verified by Visa/Mastercard SecureCode. Can I still make an online reservation?


A. In order to provide a safe environment for your online transactions, our company uses the aforementioned authentication services for transactions made by Visa or Mastercard cardholders at www.hertz.gr.

If your cards issuer is enrolled to provide the service, then after completing your personal and card data you will be asked to fill in your password you have provided during the activation of the service.

In case you have not registered your card for the service, you will be able to use your card for up to 3 online transactions. After that please contact the issuing bank to activate the respective authentication service on your card.
