During your rental
BREAKDOWN
If you experience any problem with the vehicle due to a mechanical failure or accident, you should call the Roadside Assistance. Please note that you must not allow anyone to service or repair the vehicle without the company’s permission. The renter should inform as soon as possible and within 24 hours the Hertz location where he/she picked-up the vehicle, by calling the numbers included in the Car Rental Terms document or the Rental Agreement.
ΑCCIDENTS
If you have an accident or if the vehicle is stolen, you agree to co-operate with the company and the respective insurance company during any investigation or subsequent legal proceedings. You should also take the following actions:
• Inform
You should inform the Roadside Assistance and the rental pick-up location as soon as possible, by calling the numbers indicated in the Rental Terms document or the Rental Agreement. The accident should be reported to the police as soon as possible if there was any other vehicle involved, or an injury or property damage of a third party occurred. Under no circumstances should you abandon the vehicle.
• Accident Report
You must complete the Accident Report available in the vehicle or, upon request when returning the vehicle, within 48 hours, and deliver the form to a representative of the company. The Report must be completed, signed and, if possible, agreed with each third party, even if no damage has occurred to the vehicle.
If you do not comply with the instructions in case of an accident, the waiver products may cease to be valid. See Appendix 1 for a detailed description of coverages and requirements.

DAMAGE AND THEFT
• Responsibility
If the vehicle is lost, stolen or damaged during the rental, you are responsible for all losses suffered (up to the full value of the vehicle) and all costs incurred, unless the loss or damage is directly due to the company, or the company has been reimbursed by a third party or their insurers.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
The renter’s liability to the company may include:
> Cost of repairs and loss of rental income.
> Towing and storage charges.
> Loss in value of the vehicle
> Administration charges to recover the company’s costs for dealing with these issues and any related claim.
• Safety
You are responsible for the safety of the vehicle and should try to minimize the risk of theft or vandalism by parking in a safe place. Always remove valuable items (including any GPS device) from sight and make sure the vehicle is locked. You should always possess the vehicle keys delivered during pick-up.
• Theft
If the vehicle is stolen you should inform the police within 24 hours since the event, and complete the Accident Report as previously described. You must be able to show that you have taken appropriate care, by returning the keys to the company. Otherwise, applicable waiver products of the company will be invalid.
Insurance and waiver options:
The rental rate automatically includes Third Party Liability Insurance which protects you and any authorized drivers against claims of death, personal injury or damage to property, caused by the vehicle during the rental. In addition, if not already included in the rental rate, you may choose:
> Optional Waivers such as CDW, SCDW, Super Cover and Theft Protection (TP) to reduce or eliminate your liability to the company for damage to or loss of the vehicle.
> Personal Accident Coverage (PAC) to provide cover for the driver in cases of injury, medical expenses, or death.
> Third party insurance: If you have purchased excess waiver insurance or similar from a third party to cover the liability to the company for the excess under the company’s waiver products, you will remain liable to the company for any amount due up to the excess and must seek reimbursement from the third party.
• Loss or damage of personal belongings
You are responsible in case of loss or damage to personal belongings that are placed in the rental vehicle, regardless of fault. Loss or damage to personal belongings is not covered by the waivers offered by the company. The company’s insurance and waiver products will be void if the renter breaches the current Rental Terms, or if the loss or damage is caused intentionally. The company’s waivers may also be invalid if the loss or damage is caused by the renter’s gross negligence or that of an authorized driver. On Appendix 1 there are details about the terms of optional waiver products, insurance coverage and exclusions.
